Emerging Scholars ProgramThe Emerging Scholars Program in the College of Engineering at the University of Georgia provides opportunities for doctoral students and recent doctoral graduates to present a technical seminar or gain valuable experience through interview-like discussions with faculty and leaders from the UGA College of Engineering. This program is designed to provide professional development for individuals interested in pursuing a career in academia.
Who is Eligible?Doctoral students, preferably in their final year of doctoral studies, and post-doctoral associates with 1-3 years of post-doctoral experience . Students from historically underrepresented groups in the engineering discipline (African Americans, Hispanic Americans, American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and Native Pacific Islander) are strongly encouraged to apply to this unique opportunity.Individuals who have applied to active faculty searches at the University of Georgia are not eligible to apply.

- A short (2-4 sentence) statement of interest in the program

What Happens if I am Selected for the Program?Individuals selected for the program will be contacted to set up a 45-minute virtual seminar followed by a 30-minute interview-like discussion with faculty and college leadership and opportunity to ask questions about professional preparation for academic positions.If you have additional questions, please send to emerging_scholars@engr.uga.edu.
