Let’s Thrive Together in 2021 – Inclusive Excellence Forum (11am -1pm)

February 4, 2021

Free

Dear colleagues,

I am writing to extend a warm invitation to all UCI community members to attend the Inclusive Excellence Forum on Thursday, February 4, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The theme for this annual gathering is “Let’s Thrive Together in 2021”.

The forum program will include an update on the Inclusive Excellence Action Plan, recognition of student and employee contributions, and announcements about new and existing programs. Dr. Shirley Malcom, Head of Education and Human Resources at the American Association for the Advancement of Science, will be the keynote presenter.

RSVP at: https://uciadvance.wufoo.com/forms/qcy1iqg15kparz/. Zoom links for meeting access will be provided in the event confirmation.

On January 16, 2020, the Anteater spirit fueled the launch of the Inclusive Excellence Action Plan, which is focused on building a culture of inclusive excellence based on Community, Thriving and Wellness. The product of year-long consultation, these pillars and the associated goals benefit all campus members at UCI. Whether an undergraduate, graduate student, faculty or staff member, each person should experience belonging in the UCI community, thrive in their personal growth and career advancement, and expand their individual capacity for wellness while contributing to the general welfare of the wider enterprise in Irvine and Orange.

No one could have imagined the cascade of health, economic, and social crises that were experienced over the last year, affecting countless lives and families. Considerations of Community, Thriving and Wellness have taken on renewed meaning and urgency, particularly for how we learn and work at UCI. Each pillar reinforces the other and, in turn, fortifies our culture of inclusive excellence.

As we start a new year, the Anteater spirit is very much reflected in the remarkable resilience of our students, inspiring dedication of our staff and driving commitment of our faculty to build a Brilliant Future.

Please join us at the 2021 Inclusive Excellence Forum in fellowship to support each other and thrive together in this new year.
