VLSI Design Workshop
February 24, 2024 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Have you ever wondered how computer chips are made? IEEE@UCI, in collaboration with IEEE Region 9 (Latin America and the Caribbean) and IEEE’s Electron Devices Society, will host a one-day workshop that will teach you the magic behind microelectronic design (Very Large Scale Integration – VLSI) used to manufacture chips. Participate in the workshop, and you can see your own chip design come to life – we’ve got you covered if your design is selected! Spots are limited, so RSVP as soon as you can! https://bit.ly/w24-ieee-uci-
This workshop will take place on Saturday, February 24th, 2024, from 9:00am to 3:00pm (3:00 to 5:00pm optional work time) at the UCI’s McDonnell Douglas Engineering Auditorium.
Disclaimer: This workshop is beginner-friendly, but fast-paced. The best designs will be selected for manufacturing. Please bring a laptop with a mouse.
Topics covered:
- Open Source Digital Design Tools: Wokwi
- Microfabrication and transistors
- Boolean Algebra, Truth Tables
- Logic Gates
- Finite State Machine
- Combinatorial and Sequential Logic
- Digital Components: Multiplexers, registers, clocks
