Math CEO

Are looking for an opportunity to volunteer and help the community, while also boosting your teaching skills and making new friends on campus?

Math CEO is the perfect opportunity for you!

Every Wednesday from 2 to 3:50pm, Math CEO hosts sessions of after-school math enrichment for low-income, Latinx middle school students, here on the UCI campus.

During these sessions, the kids work on exciting math activities with UCI undergraduates. They learn about math and also about college!

The UCI mentors are trained every Monday, from 2 to 3:50pm, prior to each meeting with the middle school students. They learn about teaching math effectively to middle school students, and become part of a very tight community of friends at UCI. Being a mentor for Math CEO is a very rewarding experience!

To get an official recognition of your commitment on your transcripts, and also to earn 2 units, sign-up for Math 192, Section A (MW 2:00-3:50).

Most of the Math 192 class meetings coincide with the Math CEO training (on Monday) and fieldwork with the middle school students (on Wednesday).
So by being a dedicated mentor for Math CEO you are essentially completing all the course requirements for Math 192, with the exception of a take home final.

Please contact the Math CEO team at apantano@uci.edu for questions.
