UROP Calls for Research Proposals: Nov. 6 & 13 Deadlines

The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) is pleased to announce three Calls for Proposals.
APPLICATION DEADLINES: November 6 and 13, 2023.
Research Experience Fellowship
-
Provides recognition and/or funding to current undergraduate students from all disciplines to conduct faculty-mentored research or creative activities.

Funded awards are intended as reimbursement for project supplies and expenses and can be used during the 2023-24 academic year through Summer 2024.

Awards typically range from $250 – $1,000 per individual project, with higher amounts of up to $2,500 available for group projects.

Students who do not need funding may apply for non-funded recognition.

IMPORTANT! The Spring Distinguished Research Fellowship is no longer being offered. Students who wish to apply for recognition and/or funding during the academic year should apply now, as this is the only UROP opportunity to offer reimbursement for project-related expenses during the academic year.

Interdisciplinary Research Teams

Encourages current graduate students to mentor teams of undergraduate students from all disciplines.

CALIT2 has partnered with UROP to provide funding of up to $3,000 for team projects that are interdisciplinary in nature and led by one graduate student and 2-4 undergraduate students.

Provides project-related supplies for research conducted in Winter and Spring 2024.

Undergraduate students must be from at least two different schools or two different majors within a school.

Travel or Publication Award
- Provides support for travel-related expenses for undergraduate students who are presenting at conferences, traveling to research destinations, or who incur expenses related to publishing their research.

Awards are capped at $1,000 and are disbursed as stipends to students to assist with qualifying activities during the 2023-24 academic year through Summer 2024.

- Get Involved in Research – For those not yet doing research, this information session will cover the steps you need to take to get involved in research and creative projects.
- Proposal Writing & Submission – Learn how to write and submit a research proposal for the Research Experience Fellowship and Interdisciplinary Research Teams programs.
- Writing Center Drop-In Hours – The UCI Writing Center, located at 193 Science Library, offers walk-in and scheduled appointments to assist students with writing UROP proposals and personal statements.
